Teaching Materials Support to 106 Schools
HTN through the funding support of New Zealand Aid Programme and Himalayan Trust New Zealand used to provide teaching materials to more than 65 schools of Solukhumbu annually. The support has gone up to 106 schools with addition of schools where LIL programme has been implemented. Moreover, five monastery schools of KPLRM have also received the support. The teaching materials include attendance register, exam copy, A4 paper, pen, pencil, exercise book, drawing paper, record file, envelope, glue stick, board marker, tapes, and sports item (volleyball, football, volleyball net) and so on. An invitation for sealed tender from interested firms to supply the items was advertised on 8th April 2022. Dewasis Trade Concern got the contract to supply the teaching materials on 24th April 2022. All these teaching materials were transported to Phaplu and then handed over to respective schools. Mr. Bishnu Kumar Rayamajhi and Mr. Ujwol Bhomi were in charge of teaching materials distribution. The teaching materials of Solududhkunda Municipality ward no. 1 to 6 and Likhupike Rural Municipality schools were transported by road and handed over to the schools. The teaching materials of KPLRM ward no. 1 were also transported by road and distributed from Kharikhola School. The materials to Chaurikharka and Khumjung clusters were airlifted and reached to the respective schools. Likewise, the teaching materials for 42 schools of Mapya Dudhkoshi, Sotang and Mahakulung Rural Municipality were transported by road and handed over to the schools. All the 106 schools are now well equipped with teaching materials for a year. As for Rolwaling Sangag Choling Monastery School, the materials were handed over to the member of the school management committee, Mr. Ang Phurba Sherpa at the Trust office in Kathmandu. These teaching materials have been very useful and effective to operate the community schools in rural Nepal and helped to minimize the financial burden of parents and school administration.
