Suppying Child Friendly Furniture
After the successful completion of classrooms through the REDSS Project, there was a necessity felt for having child-friendly furniture in those classrooms. In order to meet the current needs of school furniture, the schools rebuilt by the REDSS project requested HTN to support for child-friendly classroom furniture. After collecting petitions, our field-based staff have conducted a need assessment of the furniture condition of eight schools. All these schools were selected to be furnished with new desks, benches, carpets and cushions for the grades from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to five.
For the procurement of the furniture, the Himalayan Trust Nepal announced the procurement tender notice in Gorkhapatra National Daily on the 28th of March, 2018 for submitting sealed bids. Gorakkali Kastha Udyog of Solukhumbu got the contract and completed the furniture project within July 2018. The furniture has been handed over to five schools through HTN’s District Coordinator Mr. Nava Bahadur Bhujel. The furniture of Khumjung and Thame schools will be airlifted once the flight from Phaplu is available.
