Menstrual Health Solukhumbu (MHSK) Project 

@himalayantrust.nepal with generous funding from the @nzinindia and in collaboration with the @unfpanepal is implementing the Menstrual Health Solukhumbu (MHSK) Project across 3 community schools in Solukhumbu.

From 9 to 19 February 2025, Project Coordinator Ms. Sushma Adhikari and Education Training Officer Ms. Sangita Rai conducted field visits to Junbesi, Taksindu, and Mahendra Jyoti Secondary Schools. Their key objectives included conducting orientations, administering a baseline survey, assessing existing menstrual health practices, identifying barriers to accessing sanitary products, and evaluating school facilities related to menstrual hygiene.

Subsequently, from 8 to 15 March 2025, Ms. Sushma Adhikari, along with Education Training Officer, Ms. Gita Lama, carried out another visit to promote menstrual health awareness, provide training on the use of menstrual cups and reusable panties, and distribute essential menstrual hygiene products in schools and communities.

The Menstrual Health Solukhumbu (MHSK) Project is committed to:

✅ Promoting better menstrual hygiene management among adolescent girls
✅ Reducing school absenteeism caused by periods through education and product access
✅ Improving sanitation facilities to meet the hygiene needs of girls
✅ Breaking taboos and challenging stigma surrounding menstruation
✅ Building a strong support network involving students, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders

By creating a safe, informed, and inclusive environment, this initiative empowers girls to manage their menstruation with dignity and confidence, helping them stay in school, thrive academically, and lead healthier lives.
